How to write a request for a special constituency meeting.
- Read the resolution that was voted by the Village church, and any supporting information you can find, including this website. Become familiar with the situations and people involved in this or other relevant controversies.
- You may use the resolution from Village church as is, though it is not necessarily recommended. (There is a blank word document provided.) Form a document that reflects your church board members’ feelings, perspectives, and objectives.
- The “WHEREAS” statements should be written by each church board so that the request best reflects the motivations, findings, and convictions of your church board. For example, references to the situation at Village SDA Church or individual pastors need not be mentioned, at the discretion of each respective church board. However, the combined “WHEREAS” statements should provide a logical basis for the resolution to call for a special constituency meeting.
- The “BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED” paragraph should not be changed, except for the name of your church.
- The proposed agenda can be modified to reflect how your church feels the process should be carried out. Keep in mind that the process is important, details matter. If we end up with many different proposed agendas there may be extra effort required to make this meeting happen.
